Perfect It Aint

As the title indicates, perfect it aint. I'll rant and rave, maybe even curse once in a while. You are welcome to join me with your comments. At worst I'll just tear out the rest of my hair. At best, I may agree with you. Or maybe I'll just ignore it, because you know, perfect it aint!

TURN WHEN YOU TURN

Well, here we go AGAIN!

Back in the Dark Ages, back when I was a kid, the new automobiles came out with a fascinating device. With it, you didn't have to roll your window down when it was cold or rainy outside. You just pulled a lever down or pushed it up, depending upon which way you intended to turn. And it was legal, too.

So why, after fifty years, don't people know about this fancy device?

In fact, how many people you know who actually know the old way to properly signal turns?
UP for right, DOWN for slow and STRAIGHT OUT for left.

Have you noticed that it seems no one is giving signals anymore, except you and me (and I always do). Between their cup of pop, cell phone and cigarette, while trying to read the paper, and put her makeup on and tie his tie, I guess they really don't have time to give signals. And even if they do, do you really believe them?

I'll let you in on a secret--I DON'T!! Too many times have I seen that right turn signal on the back of a vehicle that proceeds to make a left turn. And, vice-versa. So many times in fact, that I'd rather they give no signal than an incorrect one.

And they've taken me up on it--very few give any kind of signal anymore. So, in order to make sure everyone is doing the same thing, lets make up some rules--
1.) Put your cell phone to your left ear if you intend to make a left turn (see, its real easy, once you get the hang of it.)
2.) Hold your cigarette in your right hand if you plan to make a right turn (gets easier all the time, doesn't it.)
3.) If you are just going to slow down, place your steaming hot coffee cup between your legs and then hit the brake hard.

OR YOU COULD TRY USING THE SIGNALS THE MANUFACTURER PLACED THERE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE TO BEGIN WITH, (expletive deleted.)

Of course, if people would use them properly, there really would be no need for me to make my rude signals with my finger anymore!!! (Kinda looks like the state of West Virginia, doesn't it?)

State Employees

I live down a private road, about 1/8th mile from a state highway. The road is privately owned, privately maintained. So why, within the last week, have I intercepted state highway personnel driving on this road?

The first time, the guy said he was just looking for a place to have his lunch. Never mind the fact there are at least four or five parking areas within a half mile of my home, he wants to come up my road and have his lunch--what he didn't tell me was that he had another mower and two trucks that would come right along with him. There are no wide places in this road for him to pull off, so he wanted to inconvenience six people in three families so that he would have a place to eat.

Today, one of their pickup trucks came down the road today about 11:15 am. Do you think they wanted to have lunch also? May be, because not too long after they came down the road and had to back back out to the highway because a resident was coming the other direction, they left the area with their other pickup truck, endloader/backhoe, and two dump trucks and did not return until shortly before 12:30 pm.

The gall of these people. No one has ever invited any of them onto this road, and yet they seem to think they can go anywhere they choose and no one should have anything to say to them. Too bad, because I do--STAY OUT. If we wanted them, they wouldn't even glance this way.

Welcome to the Blog

After long thought, it just makes sense to me to start this mess so I have a place to vent my frustrations about the world to the world. As the title suggests, Perfect It Aint, neither the world nor my comments upon the rare crazies I see on a daily basis. Like for instance--

Why do those idiots continue to run the same stop signs over and over, even though they have seen the crashes that result?

Does anyone ever give turn signals anymore?

Whatever possesses those people (?) to let the fire truck pass and then ignore the 500 foot rule, and stay right behind the truck all the way to the fire?

Then there's the guy or gal who pulls out in front of me when I'm doing the speed limit of 55 mph, refuses to put his foot on the gas , and pulls off the road within 200-300 feet, without any signal I might add. Horns and lights do no good. Gestures are useless. They are completely oblivious.

Oh, and the one I caught the other day. Sitting at the red light I looked across to see who was coming to meet me through the intersection, and lo, there she sat--cigarette in one hand, cell phone in same hand, cup of what appeared to be coffee in the other hand, along with some type of paper she was trying to read, giving a left turn signal. When the light turned green I just sat there whikle she proceded to turn right, after waiting until she had unloaded the cup of whatever it had in it.

Friends, stupidity prevails upon this land. Its out there waiting for you, just open your eyes and see.

These are very mild occurrences compared to what really irks me.

We'll get to those later.
